SSCC Announces Silver State Speed Week in September 2001…..

This year the Silver State Classic Challenge open road event will be a double header!  Two open road events run back to back, the first on State Route #278 on Sunday, September 16, and the second on State Route #318 on Sunday, September 23.

The new event on State Route #278 will be known as the “Silver State Gold Rush Challenge”.   It will be first new open road event organized by SSCC in over 10 years and is in response to participants requests that SSCC open new venues and hold more events as the existing SSCC events are currently sold out two years in advance.

During the intervening week there will be activities designed to be of specific interest to the racers each day in Ely, Nevada, which is centrally located between the two venues.  Although plans are not yet firm, events such as time trials, rallies, and tours to interesting places around Ely are being discussed.  In the evenings there will be a different dinner, party or other activity each day.

The new 60 mile venue, State Route #278 is new to open road racing and runs between Carlin, Nevada and Eureka, Nevada.  The entire course is located in Eureka County who has welcomed the organizers with open arms.  This new venue, just like State Route #318, is fully fenced and presents a safe venue for Open Road Racing.

A social event will take place in the small town of Eureka, Nevada immediately following the event where the results will be announced and trophies awarded.

When the participants leave Eureka they will caravan to Ely, Nevada where a weeklong cornucopia of activities will be awaiting them.  On the following weekend they will be participating in the 14th annual running of the event that started it all, the Silver State Classic Challenge.

This event, like all SSCC events, is fully permitted, sanctioned, insured and will be conducted according to the highest safety standards. More information for potential participants and fans can be found at www.silverstateclassic.com or 702-631-6166.
