    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“SILVER STATE CLASSIC

DRAWS MORE FOREIGN ENTRIES”

As the fame of the Silver State Classic spreads around the world, so too do the entries come from far away lands.  This month’s field includes entries from Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Canada and Mexico.  Japan is contributing three full teams and Canada is sending the largest contingent consisting of nine teams.  “All of these foreign teams are expected to give our home boys a run for their money”, stated Phil Henry, Silver State Classic spokesman.

These events continue to draw celebrities such as John Schneider and the Hollywood Stuntmen’s Association who will be on hand in Ely throughout the event weekend.  Additionally, major sponsors such as K & N Air Filters and Optima Batteries are now throwing their support behind these unique automotive racing events.

Silver State Classic Challenge, Inc., will again be lining up a full field of over 230 cars in Lund early Sunday morning in preparation for the next running of these racing events held twice yearly on State Route #318, on the third Sunday of May and September.  Although the organizers hope to permit everyone who wants to run a place on the starting grid, there are about 40 hopefuls awaiting cancellations which will enable them to compete.  Henry stated: “Anyone that wants to run these events will have to make a reservation or send in their entry well in advance of the event date.  We are filling up every event since last September.  Next year’s events are already about half sold out.”

This all means more prosperity for Lincoln and White Pine counties as over 1,000 racers and crew members fill motel rooms, restaurants, local stores and create lines at local gas stations.  Everyone will once again benefit by having these events take place in our counties.

Silver State Classic Challenge is also continuing to contribute to some of the income from these vents to local charities.  The EMT’s personal welfare fund, SADD, and the volunteer firemen will all benefit from charitable activities being put on in connection with September’s event.  The general public is invited to Broadbent Park in Ely, Nevada,  on Saturday to see all of the cars and drivers.  Entertainment is planned and the Chamber of Commerce has organized a fair of booths with many varieties of food and beverage as well as merchandise and souvenirs being offered for sale.
